Giveaway from Lady Lynn's Boutique

This Contest Is Closed Congratulations d.fox13

Did you know…
Peridot is the birthstone for August. Peridot was used quite often in ancient times by the Egyptians. They would call it “gem of the sun” because of the way it sparkles in the sun.
Peridot is actually a mineral named Olivine and comes in a variety of green colors from light yellowish green to a deep olive green.
Peridot is nicknamed the “evening emerald” because it was believed that it glowed in the dark. Peridot was mined at night. Miners would mark the spot where they were found and come back in the daylight to retrieve them.
Peridot has often been confused with Emerald.

I love the color green and the gem quality peridot stone,In my research of gem stones which I have always loved I found this information...Peridot is perhaps derived from the French word peritot which means unclear, probably due to the inclusions and cloudy nature of large stones. It could also be named from the Arabic word faridat which means gem. In either case, peridot has been mined as a gemstone for an estimated four thousand years or better, and is mentioned in the Bible under the Hebrew name of pitdah. Peridot gems along with other gems were probably used in the fabled Breastplates of the Jewish High Priest, artifacts that have never been found. The Greeks and Romans referred to peridot as topazion and topazius respectively and this name was later given to topaz, to end the confusion with the two gems. Historical legend has it that peridot was the favorite gemstone of Cleopatra. Pliny wrote about the green stone from Zagbargad Island in 1500 B.C..Zagbargad (Zebirget) Island has been known as St John's Island and was mined for centuries. Before World War I, this island was extensively mined and produced millions of dollars worth of gems. Since then the mining has been off and on and at present is all but nonexistent. Still, specimens from here are available at times and it certainly is a classic mineral locality. Whom ever wins this pendant you created will surely have a treasure. Robi Lowe

I wandered off to your page and forgot why I was here. I LOVE your jewelry!!! It's hard to find this quality anymore. Most of these contests they offer something a 7 year old could make. Welp your items are just "Bitchen" You make the quality of jewelry I used to be able to find in the 70's. Nice big and thick and great stones. Even if I don't win I will be bk when I get bk to work to order me some earrings.. Beautiful!

Lady Lynn, I really love your jewelry, especially when I recieve the thanks I get for giving it as gifts.
I really love peridot. I have even gone so far as to paint my bedroom this color. I live in Oregon and we tend to have long gloomy, wet and dark winters. This color never fails to lift my spirits. As with jewelry, the colors of peridot are cheerful and fun. Mary
