The Olympic Games

The Olympic Games will open this week in Beijing.

Jade plays an important role in Chinese culture. To honor their culture Jade has been incorporated into the Olympic medals.

The Gold medals will have white Jade, the Silver medals will have light green Jade and the Bronze medals will have dark green Jade.

Jade symbolizes honor and virtue and will be incorporated into the 3,000 medals that will be awarded.

OK Jewelry designers, what a great time to consider adding Jade into your new creations!

Giveaway from Lady Lynn's Boutique

This Contest Is Closed Congratulations d.fox13

Did you know…
Peridot is the birthstone for August. Peridot was used quite often in ancient times by the Egyptians. They would call it “gem of the sun” because of the way it sparkles in the sun.
Peridot is actually a mineral named Olivine and comes in a variety of green colors from light yellowish green to a deep olive green.
Peridot is nicknamed the “evening emerald” because it was believed that it glowed in the dark. Peridot was mined at night. Miners would mark the spot where they were found and come back in the daylight to retrieve them.
Peridot has often been confused with Emerald.
